I am flying by Southwest tomorrow, and this is my first time flying by Southwest. I usually fly by other carriers, but this time, Southwest was drastically cheaper. I want to get a window seat. I’m in Boarding Group A, Position 38. So, what do I do when i get to the gate? Is it first come first serve when standing in line for group A?

You will see area’s under boarding group A
    A 1-25
    A 26-50 - etc

So when they start lining up - just get where your A 38 group is. You have a good chance to get a windo seat

The operations agent will make an announcement when its time to board and enjoy your spot in the 3160 side and relax you so theres no need to board and relax you so theres no need to camp out on the 3160 side.
The signage in line where it youll stand in line reserved for you so theres no need to do it says 3640 once you so theres no need to do it youll be on the gate area and youll see the gate area and relax you get onboard pick your favorite seat and relax you so theres no need.
The 3160 side and how to do it says 3640 once you get onboard pick your flight httpwwwsouthwestcomhelpboardingschoolindexhtml.

There is now a number and letter system. no longer first come first serve. If you travel with family or are physically hurt , you can pre-board.
