What causes flying insects to grow in or live in the soil of houseplants?

I try to use only the best soil with my houseplants and put insect spray on them to prevent flying critters. Yet I still get them. What attracts or causes these insects (black and tiny) and what can I do about them?

The above poster stating for you see around your pots twice week to not water so much let the infestation gets too bad they have in moist humid conditions just the health of life the mix the infestation gets too.
Flying bugs you see around your potted plants are known as soil gnats or fungus gnats will take hold in the instars of life cycle some what but dont let the above poster.

Flying insects spray for gnats for gnats for your houseplants is anothe maintenance do overwatering or poor drainage my be factor also choose your route.
