jet lag

I know this question may sound odd, but it’s something I’ve wondered about for a while. The way I see it, jet lag occurs because your seeing a time that your brain feels should be a different time. (You see daylight, your brain wants to sleep.) But what If you did not know it was daylight outside, and simply slept when your body wanted to. I was wondering if there was a definite answer to this question.
