Any good ideas for dealing with jet lag?

jet lag
twelve asked:

When I travel to Thailand from the US (or visa versa) the Jet lag is pretty brutal for over a week. I’ve tried all the usual remedies (staying up, taking melatonin) but nothing really seems to help. I usually resort to drinking heavily at night to fall asleep and forcing myself to stay awake in the daytime.
Does anyone have any better suggestions?
